Every so often a story will arise that makes the circle of life very apparent. The type of story that makes you realize how life comes full circle. All throughout the month on June and July our friends at Dairy Queen have been asking their customers if they would like to support Nationwide Children’s Hospital. Through their Miracle Balloon icons, Dairy Queen has been able to support the endeavors of the hospital to ensure that no child goes without the care they deserve. While visiting our friends at the Coshocton Dairy Queen I quickly found out what was driving the success for this location. Their passion was apparent through the hundreds of Miracle Balloons that covered their windows but the root reason was deeper than what anyone could know without talking to their DQ Crew. Darci, the manager, was so excited as she introduced herself to me. She was quick to point out their success was directly related to her awesome team leading the charge. When I asked her why the campaign meant so much to her she stated, “I am a Nationwide Children’s Miracle Child!” Excited and smiling she went on to explain, “When I was 4 years old I had open heart surgery at Nationwide Children’s Hospital. From the first moment we arrived to when we got to go home you all cared for me. That’s why this campaign means so much. I do whatever I can with this store and my crew to help support Nationwide Children’s.” Now, years after Darci’s successful open heart surgery she is giving back one Dairy Queen treat at a time!
