Josh Sundquist goes out on a limb to support Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals
Each year, internationally known Paralympian, motivational speaker, celebrity spokesperson and Halloween enthusiast, Josh Sundquist, reveals his newest one-legged costume inspiration for Halloween.
This year, he’s dressing up a bit early as a Blizzard Treat in honor of Dairy Queen‘s 12th annual Miracle Treat Day on July 27, benefitting Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals across the United States and Canada.
The Dairy Queen Blizzard costume features the beloved frozen treat upside-down, with the iconic red DQ spoon as Josh’s one leg. “Blizzards are one of my favorite treats,” Sundquist says. “So it’s been fun to celebrate both Blizzards and CMN hospitals with this costume.”
A past Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals patient, Josh has dedicated himself to brightening the days of others. Diagnosed with bone cancer at age 9, Josh’s leg was amputated and he endured a year of chemotherapy treatments at his children’s hospital.
Declared cancer-free at age 13, Josh started ski racing three years later. He competed on the U.S. Paralympic Ski Team during the 2006 Turino Paralympics, and currently represents the United States in international competition as a member of the U.S. Amputee Soccer Team. He is a bestselling author and has spoken across the world to groups ranging from Fortune 500 companies, to schools, and even at the White House.
Like many CMN Hospitals’ patients, Josh was helped in part by funds raised by Dairy Queen fans and franchisees who have donated more than $125 million to Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals for the past 32 years.
