Kennebunk Dairy Queen is #ForTheKids

This past Saturday, the Kennebunk Dairy Queen held an event like never before. This particular Dairy Queen closes for the winter, and owner John Dube says they like to hold an end-of-season sale so customers can fill their freezers with DQ treats.

We all know 2020 has been a year like no other, but Dube notes that the Kennebunk Dairy Queen had a great season in spite of it all. Because of this, he and his staff especially wanted to thank their community for the support. They decided to hold a customer appreciation sale, and sell everything on their menu for $1. But they also wanted to take it up a notch and donate 100% of sales that day to The Barbara Bush Children’s Hospital (BBCH)!

“Our goal with this event was two-fold,” Dube said, “We wanted to thank our regulars, and give them a chance to stock their freezers while we’re closed. But we also wanted to support the kids at The Barbara Bush Children’s Hospital because we hadn’t been able to hold our regular fundraisers for BBCH this year.”

Dairy Queen restuarants are big supporters of BBCH and all Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals. Dube’s restaurants (he also owns the Dairy Queen in Wells) normally particiapte in Dairy Queen events such as “Free Cone Day” and “Miracle Treat Day” to raise funds in support of BBCH. But due to the pandemic, these events were cancelled for 2020, and Dube wanted to make up for it. His staff wanted to give back, too- they all generously donated their time on Saturday for this event.

So- how did it go?!? Dube and his team set a goal of raising $5,000 for BBCH… and as of Sunday morning had blown that out of the water, raising $8,039 for BBCH!!!
